The Columbia Arts Council was established in 2014 by the City of Columbia.
MISSION
It is the mission of the Columbia Arts Council to promote the arts in the City of Columbia through awareness, appreciation, education and support thereby creating a connection between artists and audiences to enrich the quality of life for all and position the greater Columbia area as an arts rich community and regional arts destination.
PURPOSE
The Columbia Arts Council (CAC) is affiliated as a committee of the City of Columbia. It was formed to implement the mission statement through development of a unified arts calendar, improved communication among various arts groups, and promotion of participation of professional artists, interested amateurs, educators, students and audiences. It is also responsible for the acquisition and maintenance of the City's public artwork collection, as well as to serve as advisors and advocates for the enhancement and integration of the arts in the city. The arts community includes artists and organizations that comprise the performing, cultural, visual, and dramatic arts.
COMPOSITION
The Columbia Arts Council is comprised of no more than nine (9) voting members appointed by the Columbia City Council. Members shall serve without compensation. The CAC may make recommendations for positions to the Columbia City Council. Officers consist of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer elected annually by a simple majority vote of the CAC. A staff support representative is provided by the City of Columbia.

Columbia Arts District
Purpose: To raise awareness, encourage activity, and promote events in the arts district
Fundraising
Purpose: To raise funds to promote and support the work of the Columbia Arts Council
Public Art
Purpose: To encourage, facilitate, and help fund public art installations and events in Columbia
Community Involvement
To engage various local groups, clubs, businesses, organizations, and leaders by creating relationships and partnerships that bring awareness and support to the perpetuation of the Columbia Arts Council’s mission.
MEETING TIME & PLACE
The Columbia Arts Council meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 5:00 PM at the Maury County Public Library, 211 W. 8th Street, Columbia, Tennessee (October is the exception as the council will meet on the 4th WEDNESDAY instead).
